Bond Funds at Work

Independence Drive Reconstruction - Abbott Road to Ridgemont Drive

This project reconstructed a collector route. Improvements included ADA upgrades, traffic calming, trail repair, and construction of pedestrian facilities on both sides of the roadway. Curbs, pavement, and pedestrian facilities were also added to the unpaved segment south of Colony Loop. Road and trail pavement north of Colony Loop were deteriorating toward the point that safety was impacted and maintenance was no longer cost-effective. ARDSA bond funds included $200,000 for design and construction was funded by a $6.5 million state grant received in 2008. Total project cost was estimated at $7.1 million. Construction was started in 2009 and will be completed in 2010 (Community Council: Abbott Loop, Assembly District 6)
